Well it looks like to me like it's got the suffix -νος on, which is usually stressed on the final syllable. This suffix attaches to verbs, but certainly the word here could have come from a verb since color terms often come from other words. There are some other color terms also ending in -νος, some of which are accented on the final syllable and others not. Soap 22:17, 13 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
