Should etymology 1 be split?

[edit]

Under "Etymology 1" currently:

  1. (rare) Alternative form of łosię
  2. (regional) foal (young horse or other equine)

The first is from łoś +‎ , ultimately from Proto-Slavic *olsь and PIE. The second is apparently from Old Ruthenian *лоша́ (*lošá), which is a borrowing from Turkic. It's possible there has been conflation or confusion, but aren't these separate etymologies? 70.172.194.25 22:51, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Vininn126, @Shumkichi pay attention to it. It is probably worth adding a separate section "Etymology" for the 2nd meaning, which is indeed borrowed from the East Slavic languages. ZomBear (talk) 19:18, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ZomBear and unpingable IP, I have added a source. Neither appear to be a borrowing, just from slightly different morphologies. However, łosza is a borrowing. Added and sourced. Vininn126 (talk) 21:03, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
