Etymology

Located on the meeting place between rivers Svorka and Orkla, hence the name. The second part is from mo (big river beach). The river's name Svorka has unclear meaning, probably related to darkness.

  1. a village in Orkland municipality, Trøndelag, Norway. Back in the 18th century the village was one of the biggest towns in Trøndelag due to the copper mining activity in Løkken Verk, which was depending on the transporting, smelting and the refinery in Svorkmo.
