A calque of Chinese 蘇州碼子 / 苏州码子 (Sūzhōu mǎzi), from their use at the formerly important market town of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. Mistakenly entered into Unicode as "Hangzhou numerals", which Unicode's policy precludes changing.
