Etymology

From Sankt +‎ Joachim +‎ -s- +‎ Thal. Formerly known as Conradsgrün, the place was renamed to Sankt Joachimsthal in 1517; inspired by the name of the mining town of Sankt Annaberg, a few miles north of Conradsgrün.
