Sörnäinen
Appearance
Finnish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Adapted from the Swedish name Sörnäs, from earlier *Södernäs (söder (“south”) + näs (“isthmus, spit”)).[1] The Swedish name was adapted as a -nen nominal, as the ending -nen in many Finnish place names is often -s in the corresponding Swedish name, probably because the oblique (inflection) stem of -nen is -s(e)-.
Pronunciation
