[edit]From Riquiaás,[1] attested as Riquilanes (11th century),[2] from a genitive form of Richila, from a Suevic personal name (Rechila, Richila), from *Rīkjilô,[3] from Proto-Germanic *rīkijaz (“noble, mighty”) and the diminutive personal suffix *-ilan-.[4]
