Posssible second etymology 'rural'

[edit]

There are various toponyms which are derived from this lemma, possibly of Pre-Slavic origin:

Examples:

  • South Slavic:
    • Bulgarian: Ви́дима (Vídima)[1] (river in Cental Bulgaria)
  • West Slavic:

According to BER, they are either identical to *vidimъ (visible) (via semantic drift) or borrowed. Possibly ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *weydʰ- (wooded). Безименен (talk) 08:21, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
