Is it certain Lower Sorbian hura is from Slavic, and that it isn't a Germanic loanword? (Cf. Eng. whore, Gm. Hure, Sw. hora.) Wakuran 02:38, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

- Hmm, are they quite explicit about that? It seems very unlikely, for several reasons:
- k > h is irregular and the v/w is missing;
- Upper Sorbian kurwa exists;
- Sorbian has had extensive contact with German, and the derivation fits perfectly.

According to ЭССЯ this word is not connected to Lat. carus and its cognates. By the way, how -eh2- could give -u- in Slavic? 5.141.124.196 13:45, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
