ᛚᚨᚾᛞᚨ

[edit]

@Vettlingr, Haimariks Wandilaz Shouldn't *landa be ᛚᚨᛞᚨ, as in ᛚᚨᛞᚨᚹᚨᚱᛁᛃᚨᛉ? Is this attested/in a dictionary somewhere? Also, Vettlingr, please change the templates to gmq-pro when you move the page. -saph668 (usertalkcontribs) 21:21, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

You can change it to what you see fit. Vettlingr (talk) 21:40, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Redundancy or possibly anachronism?

[edit]

@Victar, Haimariks Wandilaz, Vettlingr Hi! Isn't this redundant to ON Áland? Even if we know the coinage must have predated Old Norse, we could mention that in the ON etymology section without the need of a full PN entry (though given we give a surface analysis á + land on the entry, I don't really see how that could be the case). I'm not RFDing, just asking as I'm curious about the Germanic editing community's opinion. :) Catonif (talk) 16:46, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

it's not redundant to ahvenanmaa. Which is why I moved it. Otherwise I would have deleted it.
Again, I suggest you look through and familiarise yourself with the lists of Proto-Norse loans in Finnish, which I pointed you to earlier. 51.175.182.228 16:50, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand, thank you! Added the Finnish toponym here given the etymology (albeit currently unsourced) present there. Catonif (talk) 17:04, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
it's not necessary though it helps for those who don't know the possible conjugations Haimariks Wandilaz (talk) 20:26, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
