@Aryamanarora @JohnC5 Is it possible that Romani jakh is from Sanskrit चक्षु (cakṣu) instead of Sanskrit अक्षि (akṣi) ? The initial palatal affricate /j/ sound really makes it look like it's actually come from चक्षु... 2405:204:9487:1FF7:0:0:F5E:20A4 09:38, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

- Wrong; Sanskrit अ (a) has corresponded with Romani /j/ in Romani jag (“fire”) as well; derived from Old Indo-Aryan ágni. Perhaps Romani jakh is from Sanskrit अक्षि (akṣi) after all. माधवपंडित (talk) 08:09, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
