Unsorted formations:
Balto-Slavic: Lithuanian: likti (“stay”), atlaikas (“remains”)
etc. should be merged with the above: duplication. I am not sure how, however. Zezen (talk) 21:39, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Thematic root aorist
[edit]@JohnC5, @CodeCat, can you have a look at the thematic root aorist section? I am not very familiar with our presentation system yet. In particular, should the augment *h₁é be included in the headword? --Vahag (talk) 13:59, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- The augment was not a part of the verb in PIE. In fact, it didn't get added to the aorist until the aorist acquired past-tense semantics, which it didn't have in PIE. Homeric Greek still had an optional augment, so we can't say the augment was already present in PIE. —CodeCat 14:34, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- So how do we present it? *likʷ-e-t, *(h₁é-)likʷ-e-t? --Vahag (talk) 17:44, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- The former. Though I must say that reconstructable thematic aorists are quite rare. —CodeCat 18:34, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, I can't think of many thematic aorists off the top of my head. —JohnC5 21:42, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
