Latin ventus is currently derived from two different roots:

  • gʷem- > gʷm̥tós > gʷentos > ventus
  • h₂weh₁- > h₂wéh₁n̥ts > wentos > ventus

Aahh! I now see belatedly that there are two different Latin words ventus, one meaning wind, the other the past participle of venīre. It is a bit of a problem that the structure of Wiktionary mixes homographs on the same page. --Caoimhin (talk) 22:56, 4 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
