Hi, @Nicodene. Right now the earliest attestation I can find is its derivative/related póutega, circa 1750. So, rather late! But its many derivations (apoutar, apoutiñar, poutear, póutega, poutada...) ask for a longer history. I couldn't consult a very important corpus of local Latin: whenever I can I'll let you know, if I find anything new. Froaringus (talk) 14:30, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

@Nicodene, I have find a few possible early uses of derivatives of pouta:

• One Iohannes Poutam, mentioned in two local Latin documents in 1173 and 1174.
• One Petrus Iohannis, Poutom, mentioned in 1258.

-án, -ón are common Galician sufixes for the production of nicknames from a noun or an adjective. Froaringus (talk) 21:12, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
