In Volta-Niger, see Proto-Edoid *A-nuə (Urhobo unu), Ayere anu, Arigidi õrũ, Akpes onu, Akpes enũ, Igbo ọ́nụ, Ebira irenu, Ewe nu, perhaps cognate with Nupe emi, Kamo ò-ŋmó.
