From *nam- (sky prefix) + Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s/ɡ-la (“moon, month”). Cognate with Bulu Puroik haNbɔ, Dikhyang Bugun habʲe. The second element is cognate with Tibetan ཟླ (zla).
