Etymology

    From *nam- (sky prefix) +‎ Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s/ɡ-la (moon, month). Cognate with Bulu Puroik haNbɔ, Dikhyang Bugun habʲe. The second element is cognate with Tibetan ཟླ (zla).
