Proto-Uralic
[edit]Reconstruction
[edit]Most reflexes are ambiguous between *ëmta- and *amta-. Sammallahti (1988) opts for the former reconstruction, based on Komi /u/ (contrast e.g. *aja-). According to a proposal by Reshetnikov & Zhivlov (2011), even this may be however derivable from *a.
