Proto-Turkic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From *yogu- (“to knead”) + *-un. The stem is not attested in Turkic but compare Proto-Mongolic *nïku- (“to knead”). EDAL tries to connect it with Proto-Mongolic *ǰuǰaxan (“thick”); however, that has a phonetic problem with *-ǰ-.
