[edit]From Early Proto-Slavic *ačī˙,[1] from Proto-Balto-Slavic *akīˀ, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃ókʷih₁, dual of *h₃ókʷs (“eye”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ὄσσε (ósse), Old Armenian աչք (ačʻkʻ), Kativiri ačé, Albanian sy.
