[edit]Per Shapiro, possibly composed of Proto-Indo-European *ne-h₁m-seh₂-tis, equivalent to *ne- (“not”) + *ęti (“to take”) + *sytь (“satiation”), perhaps meaning something like “the insatiable taker”.
