Reconstruction:Proto-Slavic/kolačь
Appearance
Proto-Slavic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]*kolo (“wheel, circle”) + *-ačь, presumably due to its rounded shape.
The similarity to Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kwlʾck' /kulāčag/, “small, round bun”) (Modern کلوچه (koluče)) and Ancient Greek κόλλιξ (kóllix, “roll or loaf of bread”) may be coincidental as it is difficult to explain through usual models of inheritance and borrowing.
Noun
