[edit]Etymology
[edit]A derivative probably to *čexati, *česati (“to scratch”) in the sense that “rolling up” the sleeve is scratching, or it means “tearing” relating to the mode of manufacture, with the suffix + *-ъlъ. Curiously the formally fitting Slovene word čéhəlj, čéšəlj means exactly a hair or curry comb.
