Etymology

Uncertain. Lots of reconstructed words for "seven" show similarities. Has been connected with Akkadian 𒐌 (IMIN /⁠sebē⁠/) from Proto-Semitic *šabʕ-[1][2][3] and Proto-Indo-European *septḿ̥[2].
