[edit]From *araō (“to plough”) + *-wos (adjective-forming suffix), ultimately from the root Proto-Indo-European *h₂erh₃- (“to plough”).

[edit]- Reconstructing *arowos (< *h₂erh₃-ew-os) will also yield the descendants but the morphological derivation becomes complex this way.
