    Unknown; possibly cognate with Albanian hirrë (whey),[1] perhaps both borrowed from an Asiatic substrate language,[2][3] or possibly further connected to Proto-West Germanic *hwaij (whey), from Proto-Indo-European *tkʷeyH-, *tkʷeHy-.[4][5]
