[edit]Possibly related to Proto-Slavic *drapati, Sanskrit द्रापि (drāpi, “garment, mantle”), and Ancient Greek δρέπω (drépō, “to pluck, tear off”). Also compare Old Norse trefja (“to buzz”) and trefill (“rag, tatter”).[1][2]
