[edit]Seemingly from the same reduplicated Proto-Indo-European *Hrey-Hroy-e- as Sanskrit लेलायति (lelāyáti, “to quiver, tremble”), from *Hrey-. Further compare Latvian raize (“worry, concern”), rieva (“wrinkle”).
