[edit]Possibly represents a Pre-Germanic *blu(gʰ/ǵʰ)néh₂-, with Kroonen leaving the origin open.[1] Alternatively, borrowed from Vulgar Latin *pilūc(i)cāre,[2] but the historical evidence is shaky.[3]
