[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *lewbʰós (“beloved”), from *lewbʰ- (“to desire, love”).[1] Given the existence of a cognate in Proto-Slavic *ľubъ, this adjective is one of the oldest of the e-grade *-az adjectives.
