[edit]Uncertain; perhaps, related to Old Irish bág (“war”) and Old Irish bágaid (“to battle”)[1],[2] which has been proposed to stem from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₁ǵʰ- (“to dispute, quarrel”).[3]
