Etymology

Related to *rusko and Proto-Samic *ručkëtē. Of ultimately unclear origin, but derived with the suffix *-ëda; the root could possibly ultimately be borrowed from either Proto-Slavic *rusъ, Baltic (compare Lithuanian rùdskis) or Germanic, but none of these theories is certain.
