Reconstruction:Proto-Finnic/küünel
Appearance
Proto-Finnic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Uralic *küńele. The long vowel is unexpected, but has been explained as being from earlier *küinel, where the diphthong would have originated from the influence of the original palatal nasal. Cognates include Proto-Samic *këńël.
Noun
