[edit]Probably from earlier *šujma and borrowed from Proto-Germanic *swīmô, *swimô (whence Old Norse svími, svimi), or alternatively, later loan from Proto-Norse [Term?] (whence Old Norse hvima, Swedish hvimsa).[1]
