[edit]Possibly from Proto-Finno-Permic *akšterɜ. In any case potentially borrowed from Proto-Indo-Iranian [Term?] (compare Sanskrit अक्षेत्र (ákṣetra, “destitute of fields, uncultivated”)).[1]
