From Proto-Indo-European *teh₂ws- (to be quiet, be still), see also Danish tyst (quiet),[1] Old Prussian tusnan (still) and Luwian 𒌅𒄷𒅆𒀀𒄿 (tuḫušiya-, to await, to wait and see).[2]
