Reconstruction notes
[edit]- The -e- in Irish and Romance are a problem. Matasović thinks there was a root ablaut alternation between *grend- and *grand-, while Schrijver invokes a regular sound law where -ann- and -andn- become -enn-.
Alternative reconstructions
[edit]- *grandā[3]
