- Proto-West Germanic *þikkwōn, from Proto-Germanic *þekwōną. Equivalent to *thicki (“thick, wide”) + -on (“factitive suffix”).
- Proto-West Germanic *þikkwēn. Equivalent to *thicki (“thick, wide”) + -on (“stative-fientive suffix”).
