[edit]From *𑀫𑀡𑀺 (*maṇi) + *𑀕𑀁𑀞𑀺 (*gaṃṭhi) (see Sanskrit मणि (maṇí)) and Prakrit 𑀕𑀁𑀞𑀺 (gaṃṭhi)). Displaced Sanskrit मणिबन्ध (maṇibandha).[1]
