German

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

First attested in 1219. However, the authenticity of the document which appeared for the first time in the early 19th century, is disputed. The name of the place is most likely derived from Reder, a former name of the river Große Röder that is running through the town. The second element is Berg (hill)
