Etymology

[edit]

Literally, quality comes from/is derived from agony. Coined around 1980 by journalist Wolf Schneider, later popularised by football coach Felix Magath. However, wordplays with both terms are older and can be traced back to philosopher Jakob Böhme (1575-1624). The two words are etymologically unrelated.
