Etymology
[edit]First attested as ossendreht in 1187. Compound of either the plural form of os (“ox, castrated bull”) or Old Dutch Osse (a personal name) and -drecht (“ferry, watercourse”). Compare Barendrecht, Ossenisse and Zwijndrecht.
