[edit]Compound of Oden (“Odin”) + sjö (“lake”).
- Kronoberg county: inherited from Old Swedish Odhinsredha and Odhænsøryth. Ultimately unkown origin, but proposedly from an assumed former name of lake Bolmen, Old Swedish *Odhænsø (literally “Odin's Lake”).[1]
- Jönköping county: inherited from Old Swedish Odhensioo. Ultimately unkown origin, but proposedly from an assumed former name of lake Barnarpasjön, Old Swedish Odhensioo (literally “Odin's Lake”).[1]
