[edit]Reconstructed as meng- + sepi, from Balinese ᬜᭂᬧᬶ (nyepi, “to be quiet”). Doublet of mênyêpi. Cognate of Javanese ꦚꦼꦥꦶ (nyepi, “to be desolate”).
