Norton-on-Tees
Appearance
English
[edit]Proper noun
[edit]- Synonym of Norton, Stockton-on-Tees.
Usage notes
[edit]Unlike Stockton, Norton is not situated on the River Tees, so it is conceivable that the affix "on-Tees" was introduced by the railway in 1901, to distinguish the local railway station from others named Norton.
