@Justinrleung: Yes... very sorry for the confusion... The word for 鳥 is pronounced /tsɛu24/, word for 麻將 is pronounced /muɔ33 tsɛu24/... checking back I've noticed that /tsɛu24/ is transcribed as 雀 in several books, but the wiktionary page for 燕子 has written "'燕鳥'--written as 燕雀".
