Singapore Hainanese

[edit]

@Justinrleung Should we also use this character for Singapore Hainanese. I know the characteristic sound shift from Hokkien/Teochew to Hainanese is /s/-> /t/, but in this case, the sound shift did not happen, which makes me think that it is probably a loan word from Hokkien/Teochew, or possibly even Vietnamese (and while Vietnamese is not a common language in Singapore, it is likely that there was contact between the Hainanese communities in Vietnam and Singapore during the colonial era, which is how Vietnamese words could possibly be borrowed into Singapore Hainanese).
