客運

@Justinrleung: In Taiwan, short-distance public buses that operate within cities are called 公車, while long-distance intercity coaches are called 客運. At least that's what is said in most travel guides, and is consistent with my experience when visiting Taiwan. The dog2 (talk) 15:08, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

@The dog2: In Singapore, we use 巴士 for both city buses and long-distance intercity coaches (i.e. those that go to Malaysia). We don't make that distinction like they do in Taiwan, where 公車 is for city buses, and 客運 is for intercity coaches. And 客運 refers specifically to buses. You won't use 客運 to refer to a ferry or train. @Justinrleung: I just saw this now lol. Maybe we should just do the most convenient way to chart this information. Basically, the chart would be about public buses, or buses that the general public can use, right? So maybe we can have all terms referring to buses for general public use within this one dialectal chart, and just put comments on specific differences? In English, it would be considered a kind of bus, and in Cantonese, it is a kind of 巴士, but I feel like 客運 is just not a kind of 公共汽車.
