Language variety qualifiers

[edit]

I think the labels in {{accent}}, {{label}}, {{term-label}}, and {{qualifier}} ought to be centralized, as I have said in the beer parlour.

The difference between {{label}} and {{term-label}} and the others is that these two are used in headword lines and definitions, and they often add categories, while the others do not. But {{accent}} and {{qualifier}} contain some of the same content: in particular when they refer to language varieties. They could use the subvariety labels module (Module:labels/data/subvarieties) to generate a link to a relevant Wikipedia article, but just not add categories.

This would, however, require that language codes be added to {{qualifier}}, to verify that the language of the entry is the correct one: for instance, that you don't add an "Australian English" qualifier to a German entry. At the moment, most instances of {{qualifier}} don't contain a language parameter, so this entails a lot of work. But I imagine that, to transition to using a labels module, we could just require that the language parameter be added if someone wants to use the labels module; otherwise, the qualifier will be displayed as plain text. — Eru·tuon 02:02, 25 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

AWB cleanup

[edit]

@Jberkel, could I entreat you to make an AWB run to clear out Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:tracking/gloss/lang and Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:tracking/non-gloss/lang? —JohnC5 05:04, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

OK, I started but it will take some time (especially for n-g, > 1000 entries). Maybe a bot could help to speed it up. – Jberkel (talk) 09:28, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
@DTLHS, would you be willing to configure NadandoBot to help with this? — Eru·tuon 09:32, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Erutuon Done, except for some transclusions. DTLHS (talk) 17:13, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Or alternatively a bot flag for AWB, so it can be run in an automated fashion. – Jberkel (talk) 10:10, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
