Updates: Updated to Batiauan Orthography
[edit]@TagaSanPedroAko Hello! I did updates to the Kapampangan pronunciation module. Let me know if you want me to change something as well.
Bugfixes
[edit]- Fixed stressed ⟨a⟩, schwa /ə/ now changing to /a/ when at the beginning of a word
- Fixed some cases when an "a" before a "u" or "w" does not change to /a/
- Fixed unstressed ⟨i⟩ and ⟨u⟩ (but not in final syllables), not being /ɪ/ and /ʊ/
- Fixed "n" to "ŋ" before /k/ and /g/, "Pampanga" before has the pronunciation /pəmˈpan.ɡə/, now /pəmˈpaŋ.ɡə/
Improvements
[edit]- Changed /a/ and /e/ to [ä] and [ɛ] respectively in phonetic transcription for sound accuracy, but left /a/ and /e/ in phonemic.
- Added triangular colon in phonetic transcription to show long vowel length (Note: accent marks aren't just stress but long vowel length, also reflected in Kulitan writing as doubling the vowel character)
- See aguman, written ágúman, has pronunciation: [ˌäːˈɡuː.mən]. Both the first /a/ and /u/ are elongated and the first /a/ only receiving secondary stress.
- /h/ sound removed in phonetic transcription but syllabication is retained. /h/ still retained in phonemic.
Orthography-Related
[edit]- Added glottal stop /ʔ/.
- Created by adding a circumflex to the vowel. Diacritic mark for forcing no accent is now a caron (ˇ). Glottal stop with character "7" is also supported like Tagalog IPA.
- Only adds a glottal stop when last letter is a vowel, or if the word is a reduplication, only on the last term.
- According to Wiktionary:About Kapampangan, the standard spelling of entries should be following Batiauan Orthography. Hence, the accent marks should follow that as well. The default stress rule is to stress the ultimate syllable, similar to Tagalog mabilis. See table for notation comparison:
Pronunciation | Batiáuan | KWF Bayung Ortograpiyang Kapampangan; also found in traditional Bacúlud and Wáwâ orthography |
---|---|---|
Mabilis | mangan, laggiu | mangán, lagyú |
Banayad, Malumay | bíbi, páyung | bíbi, páyung (Diacritic still required, according to KWF) |
Manene, Malumi | púsâ, lúhû | pusà, luhù |
Maragsa | gintû, luâ | gintû, luwâ |
- Now reads "ñg" as /ŋ/ for Baculud/Abecedario support
- ⟨dd⟩, ⟨ll⟩ and ⟨gg⟩ are treated as /d/, /lj/, and /g/
