[edit]Borrowed from Spanish Mesías (“Messiah”), from Late Latin Messīās, from Ancient Greek Μεσσῑ́ᾱς (Messī́ās), from Aramaic ܡܫܺܝܚܳܐ (məšīḥā), from Biblical Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (māšîaḥ, “anointed”). See also Kristo.
